Mathias Lambert, born Abt. 1690 in Upper Rhine Valley, Eastern France; died March 16, 1757 in Manchester Twp., York Co., Pa. He married 1121. Anna Rosina Rees or Reesin Abt. 1714 in Germany.

     Mathias came to York Co., Pa from eastern France near the border of Switzerland and Germany in 1734, via Switzerland aboard the ship "Sally" with his wife and two sons. According to sources at the Somerset Co., PA Genealogy Library, Lambert was originally Lombard. This name can be traced back to the year 1500. They were an early tribe of northern Germany. Reportedly a native of eastern France, he immigrated as a result of French Huguenot persecutions. According to "Early German Settlers of York Co., Pa", by Keith A. Dull, in the Manchester Township section of York, Mathias Lambert wrote his will in Manchester Township on June 27, 1756, and it was probated March 16, 1757. He married Anna Rosina. Her probate inventory was filed in 1758. Their grandchildren were all baptized at Strayers and Christ Lutheran Church. He was listed on the tax list in Washington Twp., Pa. for 1734. He owned land in Manchester Twp., York Co., Pa from 1734 to 1748, and was a farmer. Mathias received on May 14, 1750, a land warrant from the proprietors of Pa. He helped lay out a road at Philadelphia, Pa on April 10, 1748.

According to original Naturalization Records in Pennsylvania, Mathias Lambert, along with 16 other Lamberts went to Philadelphia and took the oath of allegiance and became British subjects. He was naturalized on the 10th day of April, 1748.
