We were sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Philip Sponaugle, who recently moved into our community.

Highland Recorder December 2, 1921

Philip Sponaugle, an aged citizen of the comnunity, died Friday morning, after an illness of a few months. He was 71 years of age, and was the son of Amos Sponaugle who is still living. He leaves three brothers: Patrick, Amos and Joshua, also two sisters: Susan and Mrs. George Whitecotton. He married Miss Susan Harper, of Pendelton, Co., who survives him, with six children, Kenny, Charles, Mary, Phoebe, Mrs. Charles Barkley and Mrs. Arthur Mullenax. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Josiah Beverage assisted by Rev. Mr. Moffett.
