Helen M. Conard was born at Salina, OK, on Aug. 5, 1914, the daughter of the late Albert Keller and his wife, Delphia McKinley Keller, and died suddenly on Monday, Aug. 10, reaching the age of 78.

She received her schooling in Oklahoma and Carthage, MO, and graduated from the Carthage High School.

On June 16, 1934, she was united in marriage to Howard F. Conard at Columbus KS. They made their home in Union and five children were born to this marriage.

Mrs. Conard had been employed by the Carmo Shoe Company in Union for 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Conard, on Jan. 27, 1989, and also by a grandson, Steven Eads, in 1989.

Those who survive are a son, Howard (Dow) Conard and his wife Amy of Union; four daughters, Barbara Eads and her husband Clay, Maxine Littrell and her husband Willard, and Pat Gabbert and her husband Ron, all of Union, and Larraine Doyle and her husband Leonard of Alaska; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 10, from the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Edward Gibson. Interment was in the Union Cemetery.
