Obituary from The Jasper News, 7 Jan 1914, front page.
Mrs. Susannah Holdeman, widow of the late Chris. Holdeman, a preacher in the Church of the Brethren, who died in March, 1912, passed away at her home in Jasper Wednesday afternoon, December 30, after a short illness.

The funeral services were held at the Dry Fork Church, on Friday, January 1, which would have been Mrs. Holdeman's seventy-seventh birthday anniversary had she lived. Elder George Barnhart of Carthage conducted the services, and the remains interred in the churchyard cemetery.

Mrs. Holdeman was born January 1, 1838, in Wayne County, Ohio. She came to Jasper County with her husband in 1881 and settled on a farm nine miles northeast of Carthage, where they lived about 30 years. About four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Holdeman moved to Jasper.

Mrs. Holdeman was a good woman in every sense, a devout member of the Church of the Brethren, and her passing will bring sorrow to many hearts. At her bedside during her last hours she was comforted by the presence and tender ministrations of her children, all of whom were with her as follows: Mrs. Laura Ledford, McCune, Kans.; Mrs. Amanda Hodkins (Hodkin) and Mrs. Clara Bishop, Carthage; Wm. Holdeman, Jasper; and Edwin (Edward) Holdeman from near Reeds.
